What we do: The many roles of a real estate lawyer

If we had to sum up our services in a single sentence, it would be an extremely difficult task. Saying something to the effect of “we provide legal advice and guidance related to selling or purchasing real property in Arizona” would be accurate, but it would also be a largely incomplete description. Attorneys who work in real estate law do so much more than the simple words above describe.

For example, let’s say you are a commercial landlord and are in the midst of a dispute with your tenant. You will need to proceed very carefully on your end so that you do not inadvertently violate your tenant’s rights. Since the laws surrounding commercial rental property and landlord/tenant disputes can be complicated, engaging an experienced real estate lawyer will strengthen your case while helping you avoid mistakes.

In another example, let’s say you suddenly receive a letter from the government stating that it wants to take some of your land for public use. If you cannot reach an agreement about your property, the government could take your land anyway under the eminent domain principle. In such cases, you would benefit greatly from working with a real estate attorney to make certain the government treats you fairly and compensates you for your land appropriately.

The two examples in this blog post represent the tip of the iceberg in describing how we help our Tempe neighbors as real estate lawyers. We urge anyone who owns real estate to become familiar with the law and a great place to get started is on our legal website. We invite you to browse our information and read our informative blog posts to stay current on Arizona real estate law.
